About our Board
The Board consists of nine members who each serve three-year terms. As of November 2019, Board members are publicly-elected to the Board. One student representative and one student alternate represent each of the district's five high schools on the board.
The Board holds a monthly meeting on the fourth Tuesday of each month beginning at 5:30 p.m. The meetings are held at different schools throughout the city. Please check our Calendar of Events to find the date and location of our next meeting. The monthly meeting can be viewed on CCSD-TV (COMCAST cable's Channel 19, Verizon FIOS Channel 30, or YouTube.com/CCSD-TV) throughout the month.
Official action by the Superintendent may be taken at any Board meeting. Additionally, the Board and Superintendent of Schools may adjourn into a closed session at any time to discuss personnel matters. There is a public portion during each monthly meeting, which allows community members, parents and students to ask questions of the Board.
Board members may be required to attend professional conferences and meetings that further the work of the Board and District. On these occasions, Board Members must follow the CCSD Procedure for Board Member Travel, as dictated by the State of New Jersey Accountability Regulations. This policy is outlined in the attached document below.
Persons interested in speaking at a General meeting must register on the district’s online website.
The request should include the individual’s name, address and detailed description of topic to be addressed.
