Health Benefits

MEDICAL BENEFITS

As a District employee, you are eligible for the following health benefits:

  • Medical Insurance with Horizon through SEHBP, click here to view the guide or click here for co-pays
  • Prescription Coverage through Benecard NJ EHP  NJ Direct
  • Dental Insurance through MetLife Dental, click here to view summary
  • Vision Care through Aetna Vision Preferred, click here to view summary
  • Flexible Spending Account (FSA) through Ameriflex, click here to learn more. To enroll, complete the Ameriflex application here and send Laura Davis your enrollment form at ldavis@nullcamden.k12.nj.us.

*Dental and Vision plans are offered free of charge to you and your dependents, even if you waive coverage for medical and prescription. You are required to enroll in these plans if you are interested in the coverage for you and your family. You must enroll within 60 days of your hire date or during Open Enrollment.

You may only make changes to your Medical benefits during the annual Open Enrollment period in the Fall.

FLEXIBLE SPENDING

A Flexible Spending Account is a special account you put money into each year which can be used to pay for eligible medical, dependent care or transportation expenses with pre-tax dollars. This means you do not pay taxes on the money in your Flexible Spending Account. Funds do not roll over from year to year – if you don’t use it – you lose it! To learn more about FSA click here.

Eligible Expenses Through Ameriflex

Medical Reimbursement: You are allowed to put aside pre-tax dollars up to a maximum of $2,850 per calendar year to pay for medical expenses that are not reimbursed by your insurance. Funds are preloaded onto a Visa debit card and are available from the first day of the calendar year.

Dependent Care Reimbursement: You may put aside pre-tax dollars up to a maximum of $5,000 per calendar year to pay for eligible daycare expenses (must be a licensed daycare provider with a Federal Tax ID number to qualify). This benefit accumulates per pay period and you will only have what you have deposited to use at any given time vs. being available on day one of the years.

Transportation and Commuter Expenses: You may put aside pre-tax dollars for parking expenses up to a maximum of $280 per month at a qualified lot or parking meter system. This is also funded per payroll period like the Dependent Care Reimbursement.

To set up a Flexible Spending Account, visit https://myameriflex.com for enrollment. Once enrollment is complete, please send confirmation to ldavis@nullcamden.k12.nj.us.
