Meet The Leadership Team
Lead Educator, Ms. Nikrena Steed

My name is Nikrena Steed, and I am honored to serve in my new role as Lead Educator at Yorkship Elementary School, Home of the Lions! The 2023-2024 academic year commenced my 25th year as a dedicated educator with the Camden City School District. I began my career at Riletta Twyne Cream Family School in 1999 as a third-grade teacher, but I gradually found my niche when I started teaching middle school English Language Arts. After thirteen years at Cream, I transferred to Octavius V. Catto Family School, where I had the opportunity to explore several leadership roles, including grade-level chair, department chair, Content Lead, and Teacher-in-Charge of the district-wide Summer Enrichment Program, all while maintaining high expectations for my students, leading my 8th graders as they made substantial gains on state testing, and earning CCSD Elementary Teacher of the Year.
I am a proud graduate of Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey, where I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in English and African American Studies. In 2022, after several years of being on hiatus, I earned my Master of Education in School Leadership at Wilmington University.
I am excited to continue serving the Yorkship community, as it has been a fulfilling experience thus far. I look forward to future collaborative efforts to increase student achievement, improve instructional practices, and provide more opportunities for enhanced student learning.
